New Oils

APRIL 25 2021:  Well here I go again.  I went out to the kitchen to get a snack, and my page was gone when I returned.  I didn't think I was gone long, but I forgot to save what I had written so far.  Lesson learned?  Hope so.  I really don't feel like rewriting all that about the glorious Spring we are having, but the tulips being in full bloom in vibrant reds and yellows and oranges inspired me to get out my oil paints.  Normally I paint with watercolors and paint what I see, but I feel that I have turned a corner and am going to continue with abstractions in oils. I painted 4 new oils of postcard size yesterday.  I chose the colors of the tulips for my new oils.  Two are titled CA Wildfires 2020 and two are titled Spring 2021.  I am excited to continue painting oils for now.  I am loving the textures and freedom of abstractions.

I really need to learn how to add my new paintings to this website.  I bet that if I just sat down with that intention for an hour, I could do it.  I have my new oils, my recent Point Wilson watercolor, and others.  So I need to do that.

My daughter Jessica is coming by to go dog sitting with me near the beach, so I better get ready.  She is bringing the makings for Mimosas, and my other daughter Shannon will meet us where we are dog sitting.  I love having my daughters nearby!  It was not always the case, and it is why we moved here and not somewhere else.  I always hoped to retire NOT in Wisconsin, because the winters are too long and as one gets older, the chopping wood and shoveling snow takes it's toll.  Florida was a possibility, but after spending the month of February down there 3 years in a row, I decided it was not my ideal for year round.  It gets way too hot for me in the summer, and with my fair skin, I need to slather on the sunscreen year round, and I get very weary of doing that. Glad to be here in the town of Port Townsend!
